A received response will be sent and the subject will be discussed at the next committee meeting, these are usually held once a month.

Co-operative Benefit Society

As agreed at the AGM in March 2019 the committee have submitted our application to the FCA for the SBOA to become a CBS under the name of The Solva Harbour Society Limited. When incorporation is confirmed a sub-committee will be formed to confirm the committee’s recommendations for a new set of Bye-laws to replace the present Constitution. Copies will be sent to members and an EGM will be called to ratify them.

Solva Harbour Society Ltd seeks to appoint a Clerk.

The post has become vacant on the retirement of the longstanding Secretary, David Taylor.

Brief Purpose of Post – Clerk: To manage the day to day administration of Solva Boat Owners and the administration of the Annual General Meeting, monthly Committee Meetings, weekly operational meetings and to work with the Committee and Treasurer to ensure that all fees, dues and accounts are settled. The Clerk will produce Minutes of all meetings and maintain records. Membership of the Society not essential.

Junior Members

The Association is down to only 1 Junior members. Junior members are the future of the Association. We ask members to encourage their children aged 11 to 18 to join.

 Lift In 2020

The lift in for Saturday 11 April 2020 has been cancelled due to the Corona Virus Guidelines and will be re-arranged when the Government gives us the all clear. Boat owners are to ensure that their vessels are secure and they follow the guidelines on social distancing when at their boats. We will keep those boat owners involved in the lift in informed.

Boat Insurance

When we get back to normal the committee will resume randomly checking the validity of members boat insurance. Visitors presently show their insurance to the Harbour Master before they are allowed to moor/use their vessels in Solva harbour.

Café on the Quay

Louise looks forward to welcoming people to the Café when the restrictions are lifted


All visitor’s moorings will be checked by the Harbour Master when the present restrictions are lifted. Members are reminded that they are responsible for the integrity of their moorings


At the AGM in March 2020, Bevan & Buckland were again appointed as our Auditors. Our finances are in a healthy position and we still have a good contingency fund in case of emergencies and a maintenance fund to keep our property in good order.

Committee’s areas of Responsibility

With the retirement of Dave Taylor as secretary the committee has agreed to devolve areas of responsibility.

A list of the devolved areas will be displayed on the SHS notice board in the Boat House and in the members area of the Website


General maintenance will continue when we come out of the present situation and will include finishing off the skimming of the west end of the Life Boat shed, Painting and repair of the shed doors, Maintenance of the Canoe/Kayak racks and general garden work around our property.
